Optipower Projects (Pty) Ltd was initiated and registered in 2001 to the current Director, Andre Swart.

Motivation to enter the industry was due to the opportunity that existed to start a Black Empowered Company that would contribute to the new South Africa through our experience gained from decades of transmission line related project participation with ABB South Africa.

OptiPower also achieved the “Transmission” and “Distribution” Black Economic Empowerment Status on Eskom’s vendor list. (Eskom Megawatt Park) as a SMME, Vendor No: 11045781, and also achieved the Approval on the Western Cape Supplier Database, incorporating the City of Cape Town and Western Cape Provincial Government, Registration No: OPTI004TRW, as well as numerous other municipalities.

The aspiration and drive to provide a quality service to all aspects within the High, Medium and Low voltage Powerline and Sub-Station industry is our commitment. We firmly believe in the continuous upliftment of our whole workforce, hence, we intend that all our permanent linesmen gain Eskom’s ORHVS to enable them to work to the Safety Standards and have a certificate that empowers the individual as authorised persons on transmission power lines. In general furthermore, amongst other courses, Safety and First aid courses, level 2, will be provided to all our key employees.

We have in our employ fully trained Tension Stringing/Regulation teams available, consisting of a Site Managers, Site Foreman, Operators and Linesmen. Even though the majority of Linesmen are generally contract workers, they are subjected to all training required by law, and Clients requirements.

Suppliers:

Business is only conducted with Suppliers complying with Clients requirements, either by proof of a valid Client vendor number or meets the relative requirements, or if nominated by the Client. Should a product be by Suppliers not on the approved vendor list, then we would confirm prior approval before any orders/business transpires.
